Review: I find it ironic that Gerard Butler, Scottish, a disgraced Secret Agent Mike Ban, embodies the spirit of John McClane much more than Bruce Willis did in the last outing terrible. Anyway, Butler did nothing more than cement his reputation in terms of funding and sweet action hero for a new generation in this old school fighter. He has a commanding presence on screen, visual jokes, bleeding when its key, and send the bad guys in a methodical cross between Jason Bourne and John Rambo. Not even in the order of the supporting cast (Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, Melissa Leo, Dylan McDermott) can take Butlers limelight.Indeed, Antoine Fuqua Olympus not only got terrific entertainment, but stunning return to Key action 90, Die Hard clone - and this film (Die Hard in the White House) is a reminder of why trust formula works, even if it has been frozen for almost two years (the last one is big Peter Death once beautiful Hyams). As home home movies action movie does not stop. Bad Guys, hoo boy means business. Rarely, if ever, I have seen so brutal collateral damage in an American action film. American citizens get mowed by bullets from the ground and air forces. The All-American (Scottish) hero is freedom and justice, and the bad guys are all American worst nightmare. I havent seen this much political incorrectness with Delta Force. Having said that, Rick Yune makes for a surprisingly effective villain relentlessly nasty cold, smug and procedural in its mission, following the formula perfectly. If it is not broke, do not fix quickly it.It is loud and ridiculous, and yet I enjoyed every minute of it. The film is full of sequences of action / special effects sensational and well shot, but its greatest strength is unity her. From the beginning to the story moves smoothly, and you can tell who are the good guys and bad guys. Characters are established, their motives are clear, and that. The action sequences not only miss each other, are quite as stream flow, thanks to fresh editing. Simplicity is the key here, and intricate plots do not fit in (hear, Die Hard 5?) Fuqua is no stranger to action, it took a solid shooter six years ago. Here it deepens the effect of up to 10 (CGI present, but when used properly) and it's great to not hold back on stress. Its not Training Day, but it's somewhat hearkens back to Antoine Fuqua, who made The Replacement Killers. Just exciting course fun.Of plot is not original. His genre picture, and what I pay to see in the genre of the film is its skillful craft and cohesive plot. This movie has both, and Die Hard clone resurrects from the grave. Here I thought I was getting bored militants. Genre is dying, you say? Jerez solid kicker. |
