Review: I attended the opening night of Labor Day in Toronto International Film Festival. Most people walk in expecting a comedy Juno / Up-Style and already know what they expect you to be a little surprised. The film is darker Reitmans usually works even if you still meet the director contacted. The film tells the story of Adele (Kate Winslet), a woman slowly dissociate itself from the world, relying on his young son Henry (Gattlin Griffith), whose father abandoned them second husband and other children. Entered menacing escaped convict (Josh Brolin) who finds refuge with Adele and her son as he tries to remain hidden from the police. Resumes will have you believe that the mother and son gradually learn his true story, becoming more and more limited in their choice. or that the family realized that they were now prisoners in their own home makes it sound like the movie would be a sort of Panic Room 2, but the story is nothing like that. As Adele and her son identify prisoners, they both find a family they have long desired. Its a good story, though quite fantastic, but I found that mattered was not the story, we see that since seeing the characters finally have a chance at happiness, and it will depend Those days they formed this weekend they spent together. This film is not defined dialogue as Reitmans other movies. Director, said in an interview that he found to be a challenge to make a film where there was little dialogue (in fact, he said, without music or dialogue and walk half expected to see a silent film.) He worked around it, with Tobey Maguire narrate the film as the older Henry. The story is, but I think the film would do without it as well. Do not let all remain silent, you have to see this movie, I found it was enough dialogue and music, though not as Juno does not play a whole hipster soundtrack. The film is much more raw yet gentle, slower than its average film and allows the actors to guide us through the emotions. Kate Winslet is an amazing actress, and she gave a good performance as Adele, convincingly portraying a woman who gave up life. Josh Brolin was excellent as well, giving us the same hard convicted and soft-hearted man from time to time. Gattlin Griffith is a great guy to grow faster than it should. Im always very doubtful when it comes to child actors, but he got it off very well. Finally, Labor Day is another, more adult and more mature film from Jason Reitman. A nice change from his previous comedies and go a little deeper than in his other films, resulting in stress, tears and some laughter. If you're a fan or not Reitman, I recommend this movie, you'll be pleasantly surprised. |
